President Mary Morel called the meeting to order at 7:00
pm at the home of Mary Morel and Kevin Greif.
In attendance were Board members Jim & Jackie Bennett,
The
Minutes of the January 20 meeting were approved with one
correction: The address for the Morel
residence listed as the next meeting (this meeting) location, should read Opal
Drive, not Susan Drive.
Highway 69 Traffic: Monday’s Courier had an article about Highway 69 but
no solutions. Discussion followed about
what we could do to get traffic to slow down.
Ideas included stronger enforcement in the form of more police or
automated camera tickets. Another idea
was to lower the speed limit although since few obey the existing speed limit,
there are doubts that lowering it would help much. Education of drivers was also discussed. Roadside signs might possibly help. As to what we can do, we could start a
letter-writing campaign to the editor and we could make complaints to DPS.
Meeting with Ramada Residents: Mary will call to see if we can get this
organized.
Meeting with County Commissioner, Gheral Brownlow: Several
residents attended this meeting as well as Randy Blake from ADOT. The main conclusion is that it would take a
road improvement district to get the work necessary on the Rosequartz side to
make a Ramada Stoplight work since the resultant intersection must be a cross
road instead of a T-intersection.
However, we were warned that we might go to all the work and expense and
then still not get the stoplight approved.
The other problem is that most likely, all other entrances from DV onto Hwy
69 would be changed to right-turn only.
It was suggested that one thing that we might do to help, would be to
count traffic from the combined entrances in order to meet warrants necessary
to get a stop light.
Newsletter: Discussion about the upcoming issue ensued. We need to include contact numbers for the
DPS (Highway Patrol), Yavapai County Sheriff
and ADOT. Other topics might
include: the Ramada resident’s meeting, the meeting with the County
Commisssioner, and a flyer for the Food Drive.
DVWUC Ownership: Kevin Greif has been talking to the Arizona
Corporation Commission’s Compliance Officer about the issue but no results,
yet.
Results of Bus Shelter inspections: Jim Bennett inspected both
locations and found no problem with the shelter on Lois Drive and only a board
that needs fixing at the Diamond Drive shelter.
Next Meeting of the BOD will be Tuesday March 16, 2004 at Mary Morel’s house, 1140 N Susan Drive at 7:00 pm.
